Operational leasing, in plain English

Operational leasing (Czech: operativní leasing) is long-term rental. You pay one fixed monthly fee for a new car and give it back at the end of the term. You never own the vehicle, and the running costs that usually catch people out are bundled into the rate.

Questions people ask before signing

Straight answers on cost, contracts and what happens if your plans change.

What is operational leasing, and how is it different from buying?

Operational leasing is a long-term rental. You pay a fixed monthly fee for a new car and return it at the end of the term, so you never own it and never have to resell it. Insurance, servicing and the highway vignette are built into the monthly rate.

Can foreigners lease a car in the Czech Republic?

Yes — it is exactly what this service is built for. We work with expats, foreign employees and foreign-owned companies in Czechia, and every step is handled in English by an advisor who knows which documents the leasing company will ask for.

What is included in the monthly price?

Insurance, servicing and maintenance, the Czech highway vignette and the radio licence fee. Fuel, tyre service and road tax are not included — road tax is settled through the vignette. Winter tyres with seasonal storage, and a higher mileage allowance, can be added to any tariff and are quoted per contract. Prices on this page are shown excluding VAT, with the VAT-inclusive figure alongside.

What is the shortest contract?

Two months. Six and 36-month terms are also available, and the longer the term, the lower the monthly rate — a 36-month contract is typically around a third cheaper per month than a two-month one.

How many kilometres can I drive?

Two and six-month contracts come with unlimited kilometres. The 36-month contracts include 10 000 km per year, and extra mileage can be added to your quote.

Can I return the car early?

Depending on the tariff, you can return or swap the car free of charge after two or six months. The exact early-return terms for the car you choose are confirmed in your quote before you sign anything.

Are the prices with or without VAT?

The headline price on every car is the monthly rate excluding VAT, which is how leasing is normally quoted for companies. The figure including 21% Czech VAT is shown directly underneath, so both are visible before you enquire.

How do I get an actual quote?

Pick a car, choose a term and send the enquiry form. There is no charge and no obligation — an advisor comes back with confirmed pricing, the document list and available handover dates, usually within one working day.
